At 11:30 a.m., two men were picked up for work near the 100 block of Floyd Avenue by Alameen Mohammed in a silver Mercedes Benz, Bloomfield police said.
Mohammed brandished a handgun and demanded money from the men, police said.
The men had no money and exited the vehicle before calling 911, police said. Newark police recognized Mohammed's vehicle and began a pursuit, officers said The vehicle crashed and officers pursued Mohammed on foot before apprehending him, police said.
Mohammed was hit with robbery and weapons charges, police said.
